    Kari and Drew Chicago

Happy 6 months to our boy Harvey -- and all the other Flavor's of Mocha! It crazy how much he has grown. Drew and I were just flipping through photos from when we first brought him home, remembering how tiny he was just brings a smile to our face! I apologize for not keeping in touch over the last few months. We think of you all the time and are so thankful for all you did to provide us with this beautiful boy. He is our joy and happiness! Our winter has been really long and still going strong. It's the worst winter in Chicago I can remember and I've lived here my whole life! Even though it's been cold and miserable outside, Harvey loves everything! Except those 2 days of -40 degrees -- those were bad for all of us! He loves the snow though. Since mid-December Harvey has been going to training and day care 5 days/week. It's been really good for him and for us. He isn't in his crate waiting for a dog walker and he is tired at the end of everyday because he works his mind and body. He loves it and so do we! He is so smart and the favorite of everybody there. We found the facility through recommendation of our vet and are so happy we did. The owner used to have a bloodhound and is the main reason he started the training business! Couldn't have been more perfect! He has pictures and paintings of bloodhounds all over and the minute he saw Harvey he was in love. They do multiple private training sessions throughout the day and we go in once a week for a lesson with him as well. They've helped us a ton with training, learning how to walk him on a leash, sit, stay, down, come, etc. He is such a friendly, loving and sweet boy they say he's like a golden retriever. We work on his patience with sit and stay, and he can stay in these positions until we tell him "ok". We also practice this while leaving our house to go outside, sitting until the door opens and we say ok. He's picked up new skills just by watching other dogs train during the day. One example: the trainer was working with a small dog on an agility course of stairs and chairs... Harvey watched, came out and wanted to try it! He did it the first time! He is so smart and they see it everyday. It's made his behavior at home really remarkable. Though he is still quite the silly sassy boy and loves jumping on the couch when we turn our heads for even a second, haha. He has been an angel sleeping at night. Since Thanksgiving he's been sleeping through the night and doesn't make a peep. Such a good boy! He's the favorite in our neighborhood. People we don't even know come up to us and say "this must be Harvey!" We've had people stop dead in their tracks -- even in their car -- to admire him. Harvey loves meeting new people and dogs and is so friendly to all. He also loves sitting in our laps though he is way too big already! Not sure about his exact weight but I'm assuming he's over 80lbs. At 18weeks he was 60lbs and that was the last check in at the vet. He is already bigger than all the labs and golden's on our block! :)

This time he stole a paper towel. Guess I am not supposed to notice it hanging out of his mouth! Doesn't he look innocent? After I took it away, he stuck out his tongue! I will send you the pictures to post!

Miss Whobris is just the most wonderful dog, we love her more & more everyday! I was training her to be a therapy dog & she is doing wonderful with that but we have discovered she may have other talents as well. My husband had suffered a head injury at work & has been having trouble with seizures & we think she may be able to recognize when he is going to have one! She just amazes me everyday! She healed my broken heart & may save my husbands life one day! Thank you for giving me such a wonderful family member!

Just wanted to send you a note to let you know how well Praise is doing. She is still in training but moving along rapidly. She actually went out on a call today for the first time and caught 2 burglars. She is a wonderful dog with amazing personality! I will keep you informed of her progress.

Bonnie and Boomer are getting so big and tall and losing their teeth. Boomer has been losing then often. (Landon age 4)our grandson found one and ask if the tooth fairy would come.So we put it in a zip lock back and left it on the table for the fairy. Landon was so excited the next morning he went to find the zip lock bag and he was so excited the tooth fairy brought Boomer 1 $1.00. With two of these great dogs and a Bulldog there is not a dull moment. We so love them and so does everyone who see them. They have taken over our home. I think I could write a novel on how much fun these hound dogs are. I would have a third one if I could. :D

Thanks so much for thinking about our sweet Whobris on her 1st birthday! She could smell the cookies thru the box as soon as i came in the house & was doing her amazing wiggle & howling. she was just like a little kid! it was too funny! Wow! I can't believe how fast time has gone! She is an amazing girl! She will be finishing her last few weeks of advanced obedience training. After that she is going to work on getting her therapy dog certificate & since she is doing so well in obedience school we may start doing some competitions.
