Hazel Mae ... named in honor of my Indian grandmother.  She is a lightweight among our hounds, coming in around 78 lbs at one year. Her personality is one of extreme curiosity and very forward ... not afraid of anything  She is the first to check things out and the most endearing in that she will try to sneak into the others’ area of the kennel and try to steal a bone, blanket or toy just to tease them with. She is also a lover, as with the others, wanting to kiss you at least a dozen times before she runs off to investigate things. She is similar to Dovie, in being a house dog, she would sleep on our bed in a heartbeat and knows where I keep the house toys in my office ... heading there every time she comes in, looking for that special ball!

Her sire has many championships and she is a great pet to us and makes us laugh whenever we are around her.

Health Clearances

Hazel turned 2 on March 12, 2011 and has visited her favorite vet for all of the health tests. She has passed everything with flying colors and you can see the results at www.offa.org if  you would like to. Hazel, like Max, had the elbow tests but due to a previous break on her left leg only passed on her right side. Please don't hesitate to contact us directly with any questions you may have on the OFA tests.

She has also had DNA testing, DM testing and a brucellosis test - all results are on file.

Breeding Info

Hazel has been bred naturally twice with Levi in 2012 and 2014 with successful delivery of puppies (you can find pictures under the Puppy Tab). We are retiring her this year as we feel she would be better as a family pet.  Hazel is living in Tacoma, WA with one of her daughter's from the Winnie the Pooh Litter and enjoying her retirement to the full!
